Finding five together in the same rock layer is something scientists had never seen before and now, those dinosaurs are coming to Dallas.

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science will become the first North American venue for The March of the Triceratops in July 2027. The exhibition features more than 1,200 bones and fossil fragments from five Triceratops horridus discovered together near Newcastle, Wyoming.

Unlike most Triceratops fossils, which are typically found as individual animals, these five were discovered in the same geological layer. The finding provides another window into prehistoric life at a time when paleontologists continue uncovering evidence of the dinosaurs that once roamed North Texas. Researchers say the Wyoming discovery provides rare evidence that Triceratops may have engaged in social or herd behavior.

“Triceratops fossils are usually found as individual animals, so discovering five together in the same geological layer was extraordinary,” Naturalis Biodiversity Center Paleontologist and Exhibition Curator Anne S. Schulp said in an official statement.

From Wyoming To Dallas

The fossils were discovered in 2013 and collected over six field seasons from 2015 to 2019 by a team from the Naturalis Biodiversity Center. The animals lived roughly 68 to 66 million years ago near the end of the Cretaceous Period.

Along with the five fossil skeletons, the Dallas exhibition will feature a life-size female Triceratops model, an animatronic calf, augmented reality, animations, soundscapes and hands-on fossil activities.

“Dinosaurs have the power to capture our imagination like nothing else, and seeing these remarkable specimens up close is the type of ‘wow’ moment that inspires awe,” Perot Museum CEO Linda Silver said in an official statement.

Developed by the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in the Netherlands, the exhibition has traveled to museums in Abu Dhabi and New Zealand. The Perot Museum will be its first North American stop when it arrives in July 2027.

Specific exhibition dates and ticket pricing have not yet been announced.

Don’t miss anything Local. Sign up for our free newsletter.

Five fossil skeletons discovered together will make their North American exhibition debut in 2027 Finding one Triceratops fossil…

[9
102,104,103,155270,155271
post-451517","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dallas","tag-dallas","tag-dallas-headlines","tag-dallas-news","tag-the-perot-museum-of-nature-and-sciencetriceratops-herdfossil-skeletonsdallasnorth-texasdinosnaturalis-biodiversity-centernewsnewsletter_allnewcastle","tag-wyomingdinosaursfamily
["GET
