If that endorsement sounds a little underwhelming, it’s for the usual reasons — and honestly, most home improvement stores have the same problems.

Why do you have to pack the aisles so full of impulse-purchase junk that I can’t get a lumber cart through? Why is employee turnover so high that when you finally find someone, there’s a decent chance they don’t know the store well enough to help you?

And here’s my Jerry Seinfeld-style observation: Why is stuff at Home Depot so frequently broken or out of order?

I understand you can’t just grab replacement supplies off the shelf, and employees probably aren’t allowed to fix a broken door or busted toilet themselves. Still, it’s a pretty bad look when a store that sells everything you need to fix those things has them sitting there in disrepair.

Enough of my rant.

I only bring all of that up because I see broken stuff there often enough that it takes something pretty spectacular to get my attention.

And this one got my attention.

Whatever happened here, that’s not going back together with a few screws and some duct tape. I’m pretty sure the home office is going to have to send another one.

Home Depot Sells Repairs — But This May Be Beyond Saving

It looks like somebody ran into it, back up and drug it, then maybe tried to straighten it out before driving off.

You’d think somebody at the Home Depot would just grab one from farther out in the parking lot, bring it up front, and quietly drag this mess behind the store.

But that’s probably not how working for a giant corporation works.
