Rebecca Tijerina owns Cakin It With Mrs. T. Both started working from home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI remember stepping into that space and thinking, $150 a week, how am I going to do that? Can I afford that? Can we afford that? We had kids, and I was just like, I just don\u2019t think I can do that. But I remember telling myself, I\u2019d rather do it, and what if it fails? At least I can say I tried, because if I don\u2019t do it, I\u2019m never going to know,\u201d Rejino said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhen that idea is in your head, it\u2019s there for a reason. Listen to it, and I envisioned this years ago, and I made sure that I paid attention to it, and now it\u2019s here,\u201d Tijerina said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Faith and family<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Rejino and Tijerina said faith and family played a role in growing their businesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cStep out in faith, chase the dream. You know, no dream is too big for God, and as long as that he\u2019s in it, then in his hand is in it. He will provide and open doors for you, and that\u2019s exactly what he\u2019s done for me and Wild Honey Hats,\u201d Rejino said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cEvery time I feel like I\u2019m losing or I\u2019m&#8230; I drop to my knees and I just pray. That\u2019s the only person, I mean, the only way to look at things. God and my husband, my husband has been my rock. Like, there\u2019s times where I don\u2019t even want to do this no more. I\u2019m like, no, I don\u2019t want to do this. I\u2019m scared. And he\u2019s like, no, you\u2019re already here. Finished it. He\u2019s everything, my husband and God,\u201d Tijerina said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Inspiring others<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Rejino and Tijerina said they hope to inspire others to take a leap of faith.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cA lot of Hispanic women are intimidated. They\u2019re scared. Most of us are used to staying home and being the wives and raising children and things like that. And you can do all those things. I wear all the hats. I\u2019m a wife. I\u2019m a mom. I run a successful business. I\u2019m a friend. I\u2019m a sister. And I do it all,\u201d Rejino said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cMy idea of this is to bring a lot of the kids from the east side to come in and learn techniques, learn how to do cakes, learn how to be successful, learn how to motivate themselves and be somebody in the community,\u201d Tijerina said.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCBD.
