Residents must call 817-392-6261 before they go to confirm supplies are still there. The limit is 15 bags per address, first come, first served, with proof of address required.

City emergency managers described the supply as limited and meant for homes facing imminent flooding, not for blocking flooded streets. Fort Worth’s flood-prep notice also lists 817-392-1234 for details and puts the city at Level 3 of 4 for flash flooding Wednesday and Thursday. Officials expect 2 to 5 inches of rain through Friday, with up to 8 inches where storms stall over the same neighborhoods. The heaviest rain is forecast Wednesday night into the Thursday morning commute.

Free sandbags available tomorrow (9/30), 8 a.m.–5 p.m.
📍 4100 Columbus Trail, Fort Worth
📍 309 Hillshire Dr., Haslet
📞 Call 817-392-6261 before arriving to confirm availability.
Up to 15 sandbags per address, first come, first served. Forecasters say slow-moving storms could drop widespread 2 to 4 inches, with isolated totals around 6 inches, plus a chance of hail and damaging wind Wednesday evening.

Other large DFW cities have not announced public sandbag lines for this event. Arlington Public Works said Tuesday it increased sandbags on hand for city work — clearing culverts, staging barricades at low-water crossings and protecting public buildings — not for resident pickup.

Dallas Fire-Rescue and Dallas Water Utilities are checking pumps, inlets and known flood-prone pockets, including northwest Dallas, East Dallas and Turtle Creek, CBS News Texas reported. After a 67-day stretch without measurable rain at DFW Airport that ended Sept. 21, dry ground and pavement can send water into streets and creeks quickly.

Officials say sandbags can help at doorways and garage thresholds. They will not stop high water in a roadway. Six inches of moving water can knock a person down; a foot can carry a car. The standing advice is turn around, don’t drown.

LISTEN on the Audacy App
Tell your Smart Speaker to “PLAY 1080 KRLD”
Sign Up to receive our KRLD Insider Newsletter for more news
Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | YouTube

Fort Worth is handing out free sandbags today as a Flood Watch takes effect this afternoon and leftover…

[10
116,118,117
post-452029","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fort-worth","tag-fort-worth","tag-fort-worth-headlines","tag-fort-worth-news
["GET
