Wilkens, officers received a call about 2:18 a.m. reporting shots fired.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">When officers arrived, they found a man, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Police said a witness told investigators the victim was feeding homeless people in the area when a man approached him and asked for money.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly tried to take the victim\u2019s vehicle at gunpoint.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The victim attempted to drive away, but police said the suspect fired a shot, striking the victim. The victim then crashed into a fence, where the vehicle came to a stop.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Officers later located the suspect after he ran from the scene on foot. Police said the 30-year-old suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for minor scrapes and injuries to his arms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The investigation remains ongoing.
