HOUSTON \u2013 Houston has a long history with the blues \u2014 and this weekend, that history is taking center stage.<\/p>\n
The fourth annual Houston Bluesfest is getting bigger this year, moving to POST Houston after three years at East River 9. The festival will bring award-winning musicians and a new generation of blues artists together on Sunday, Oct. 4.<\/p>\n
Among the musicians taking the stage are Jonn Del Toro Richardson and Mathias Lattin \u2014 and their connection goes way back.<\/p>\n
Sometimes a musical connection starts with a simple invitation to sit in.<\/p>\n
Richardson met Lattin when he was young during a jam at a Houston guitar store. He encouraged the young guitarist to keep playing and later invited him to Wednesday blues jams at The Big Easy. That mentorship helped shape Lattin\u2019s musical journey, and today, the two musicians share the stage as artists in their own right.<\/p>\n

And the blues start early this weekend. On Saturday, Oct. 3, the Houston Bluesfest Showcase will bring festival musicians to Cactus Music for acoustic performances starting at 3 p.m. The showcase is free to attend.<\/p>\n
Then on Sunday, Houston Bluesfest takes over POST Houston, with doors opening at 3 p.m. and live music from 4\u20138 p.m.<\/p>\n
