The City of Lubbock<\/a> is hiring probationary police officers, and the requirements\u00a0can be pretty demanding. Do you think you have what it takes?<\/p>\n

Now Hiring: Lubbock Police Patrol Officer<\/p>\n

According to a recent job posting<\/a> from the city, Lubbock is seeking new police officers who have what it takes to serve their community in a career in law enforcement.<\/p>\n

The entire hiring process is split into several parts, starting with the entrance exam followed by a physical ability test and other pre-employee screenings. For our purposes now, we’ll focus on the eligibility requirements and the entrance exam.<\/p>\n

Lubbock Police Officer\u00a0Eligibility Requirements<\/p>\n

Looking at the job posting, anyone looking to apply for the open police officer position must be at least 20 years and six months old<\/a> on the day of the entrance exam. All applicants must also have a valid driver’s license.<\/p>\n

Speaking of the entrance exam, you can check out a study guide available to the public<\/a>. Essentially, it focuses on memorization, deductive reasoning, and spatial awareness to prepare soon-to-be officers for real-world scenarios.<\/p>\n

Physical Ability Test<\/p>\n

In addition to the written exam, there is also a test to evaluate applicants’ physical ability. After all, police officers must be able to run down fleeing suspects and defend themselves from any attackers.<\/p>\n

The physical test includes a 2,000-meter row <\/a>that’s timed. Although this counts for 40% of the total score, the bar for passing varies on each applicant based on age, weight, and gender.<\/p>\n
