Dallas City Council recently approved authorization of a construction services contract to install and rehabilitate water and wastewater mains in 18 spots across the city.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In East Dallas, construction is expected near the following neighborhoods, according to City documents<\/a>:\u00a0<\/p>\n Lakewood: Shook Avenue from Auburn Avenue to West Shore Drive Construction is expected to start in January and be completed in two years. About 27,787 feet of water and wastewater mains of various diameters will be installed or rehabilitated. Being the lowest bidder, Douglas Dailey Construction, LLC<\/a> was selected to carry out this work for no more than about $10.65 million, according to information on the City\u2019s website<\/a>, taken from capital improvement funds and a revenue bonds fund.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe existing water and wastewater mains were built between 1901 and 1959,\u201d reads the City\u2019s website. \u201cThese mains are contributing to an increase in maintenance costs, as well as service interruptions.
