Tropical rain will bring flash flooding to the state of Texas:<\/p>\n

A Flood Watch is in effect through Friday night. A Flood Watch means all the ingredients are present for flooding. Rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are expected, with some spots potentially picking up 5 to 8 inches.<\/p>\n

Right now, Southeast Texas is not included in the watch.<\/p>\n

The heaviest rain in the Hill Country is expected to begin early Thursday morning, with storms slowly moving east.<\/p>\n

The rainfall forecast generally lines up with the Flood Watch. It is important to know that in flood threats like this there will be a wide range of rain totals. Any kind of flooding in this area is life threatening.<\/p>\n

There will be an isolated thunderstorm in Houston Thursday afternoon, but the more widespread rain doesn\u2019t arrive until Friday afternoon. <\/p>\n

Tracking the tropics:<\/p>\n

So far this hurricane season we\u2019ve had eight tropical storms. We have not had a hurricane in the Atlantic basin. The latest first hurricane to form was Gustav and Humberto, which formed on September 11th. This means our 2026 hurricane season set a record for the latest hurricane to form. <\/p>\n
