DO NOT USE WITHOUT PERMISSION)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to the Arlington Police Department, the incident began around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, when a vehicle pulled up beside an officer parked at a gas station in the 1400 block of North Cooper Street. A man got out of the car, approached the driver\u2019s side of the patrol unit, and struck the window with a knife.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The officer reversed his vehicle to create space, activated his overhead emergency lights, exited the cruiser, and ordered the man to drop the weapon. Instead, police said the driver got back into his vehicle and sped off toward Interstate 30.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The officer attempted a traffic stop and initiated a pursuit when the suspect refused to pull over. With assistance from the Grand Prairie Police Department, officers brought the vehicle to a stop along I-30 near Northwest 7th Street and arrested the driver, identified as Linares.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">During the arrest, Linares told officers he had killed his children at their apartment. Officers tracked the residence to the 1600 block of South Cooper Street and dispatched units to the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Inside the apartment, officers discovered two young boys suffering from wounds consistent with a knife attack. Both children were rushed to an area hospital, where the 5-year-old boy died from his injuries. The 2-year-old child remains hospitalized in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police said additional charges are pending against Linares as detectives continue working to determine a motive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The identity of the 5-year-old victim will be officially released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KWTX.
