Just one week after her final day at ABC13 Houston, Charly Edsitty announced Thursday that she is returning to Arizona, where she grew up and began her television career. Edsitty is joining Arizona’s Family, home to KTVK 3TV and KPHO CBS 5 in Phoenix, as a weekday morning anchor.

Edsitty will make her debut Oct. 12 alongside Colton Shone on Good Morning Arizona from 4:30 to 6 a.m.

“Hey, Arizona!” Edsitty wrote on social media. “I am excited to share that I’ll be joining the very talented team at Arizona’s Family on October 12th!”

Edsitty said she is “elated to finally be back home in Arizona” and living just down the road from her family. After making the drive from Houston to Phoenix, she added, “I miss Houston, but it feels so good to be back home again!”

Shone celebrated his new co-anchor in a social media post Thursday, noting that both he and Edsitty are Diné, or Navajo.

“I think this is an HISTORIC MOMENT in broadcasting: Two Diné anchors on the desk anchoring the same show!!!!!!” Shone wrote. “We’ve done our ancestors proud!”

The move delivers on what Edsitty said she wanted when she first announced her ABC13 departure in August. At the time, she did not reveal where she was headed next but said leaving Houston after eight years was a “very difficult decision” and that it was time to be closer to family. He final day at ABC13 was Sept. 24.

Edsitty joined the Disney-owned station in 2018 as a multimedia journalist and was promoted to weekend morning anchor in 2023. She described her years in Houston as transformative both personally and professionally.

At Arizona’s Family, Edsitty fills a morning anchor opening left by Simone Cuccurullo, whose final day with the Phoenix stations was Sept. 8.

The new job also brings Edsitty’s career full circle. She grew up in Glendale, Ariz., before attending Baylor University.

She began her broadcast career in 2013 at Phoenix’s KPNX 12 News as a planning producer and later moved on air, reporting for 12 News Today. She also spent time as a bureau reporter in Flagstaff before returning to Phoenix as a general assignment reporter.

Just one week after her final day at ABC13 Houston, Charly Edsitty announced Thursday that she is returning…

[7
140459,1836,1704,56,58,57
post-453607","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-houston","tag-chronmedia","tag-chronnews","tag-chronstaff","tag-houston","tag-houston-headlines","tag-houston-news
["GET
