Love it or hate it, daylight saving time<\/a> is one month away from ending. Some of you will be thrilled to get an extra hour of sleep, while others will rage at the sky for disrupting their sleep routine.<\/p>\n

Officially, daylight saving time<\/a> will end at 2 a.m., regardless of location,\u00a0on November 1, during which clocks will be set back to 1 a.m. So, for everyone recovering from Halloween festivities, fear not, you’ll get an extra hour to sleep off that sugar high.<\/p>\n

We’ll also have brighter mornings, though afternoons will feel shorter for a while. Eventually, on the second Sunday in March, clocks will be set ahead one hour at 2:00 a.m. local standard time (which becomes 3:00 a.m. local Daylight Saving Time).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Texas is one of 48 states that observe daylight saving time in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Hawaii and Arizona are the only states that have done away with daylight saving time<\/a>. In addition, the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands do not observe daylight saving time.<\/p>\n

As it stands, folks will still be adjusting their clocks twice a year for daylight saving time. The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Sunshine Protection Act on July 14 with 308 votes in favor and 117 opposed. If passed into law, all U.S. clocks would remain one hour ahead and eliminate turning back the clock on November 1. However, the bill is currently pending in the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and has not been scheduled for a vote, according to USA Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Texas is also one of nineteen states that have passed resolutions to permanently end daylight saving time. Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 1393 in June 2025, but “Texas Time” cannot go into effect until Congress approves the changes at the federal level, according to Fox 4<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Love it or hate it, daylight saving time is one month away from ending.
