WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 Vice President JD Vance said in an interview published earlier this week that it\u2019s obvious that Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz is going to run for president in 2028.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Cruz said that the GOP was not united around Vance to be the 2028 presidential candidate for the party. <\/a>In an MS Now interview, Cruz was asked if Vance should be the nominee to which he answered, \u201cOh, no.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vance was asked about Cruz\u2019s comments during an NBC interview published Thursday.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIt is really obvious to me that, at this very moment, Ted Cruz is running for president,\u201d Vance said when asked about the Texas senator\u2019s comments. \u201cAt this moment, I\u2019m not. I\u2019m trying to help elect Republicans. That\u2019s what I\u2019m going to keep on doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Cruz told NBC News that Cruz is also focusing on electing Republicans across the U.S.<\/p>\n

\u201cSenator Cruz has been focused on electing Republicans up and down the ballot this November, and he will continue campaigning vigorously over the next several weeks to help make that happen,\u201d the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

Vance made similar comments on former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly\u2019s podcast in June.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cIf you don\u2019t run, who would run that would represent that wing of the party?\u201d Kelly asked Vance during an interview, referring the anti-war faction of the GOP.<\/p>\n
