Photo by Victoria Hernandez.<\/p>\n<p>The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.savedallascityhall.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Save Dallas City Hall Coalition<\/a> submitted a notice of intent to the Dallas City Secretary, kick-starting the petition drive to bring the future of City Hall to the May 2027 ballot.<\/p>\n<p>The coalition is hoping to secure about 20,000 signatures from registered Dallas voters to add a city charter amendment where voters would determine if the City of Dallas must maintain principal municipal government operations at the current Dallas City Hall, which was designed by architect I.M. Pei.<\/p>\n<p>The letter was filed Friday, Oct. 2, just over a week after the coalition <a href=\"https:\/\/oakcliff.advocatemag.com\/2026\/09\/save-dallas-city-hall-announces-petition-drive\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced the petition drive at City Hall Plaza.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Supporters of the coalition include former Dallas Mayor Laura Miller, Pei\u2019s daughter Liane Pei, and current Dallas County Commissioner Elba Garcia.
