{"id":45549,"date":"2025-11-11T22:27:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-11T22:27:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/45549\/"},"modified":"2025-11-11T22:27:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-11T22:27:07","slug":"man-dies-11-days-after-being-struck-by-suv-in-arlington-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/45549\/","title":{"rendered":"Man dies 11 days after being struck by SUV in Arlington, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Carlos Mendez died after being struck by an SUV in a crosswalk in Arlington late last month.<\/p>\n<p>ARLINGTON, Texas \u2014 A 57-year-old man who was critically injured after he was struck by a vehicle in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/section\/tarrant-county\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Arlington<\/a> late last month has died from his injuries, according to the Arlington Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Officers were called just after 7 a.m. on Oct. 27 to the 5900 block of Kelly Elliott Road, where they found the man seriously injured after being hit by an SUV. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Nov. 7.<\/p>\n<p>The Tarrant County Medical Examiner&#8217;s Office identified the victim as Carlos Mendez.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators determined the SUV driver struck Mendez while making a turn on a green turn signal as Mendez walked into the crosswalk. Police said the driver stopped immediately, remained on scene, and cooperated with the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Mendez was using a designated crosswalk at the time, though investigators have not determined whether he entered it at the direction of a traffic signal.
