Texans<\/a> seeking a license to carry a handgun can now apply through a new state <\/a>website following a temporary pause in online services.<\/p>\n The Texas Department of Public\u00a0Safety <\/a>launched RSD Connect<\/a> Thursday, replacing its previous online handgun licensing platform. The process includes four to six hours of classroom instruction, a written examination and a shooting proficiency demonstration with a certified instructor.<\/p>\n Applicants must also meet eligibility requirements, pay the required fees and provide supporting documents.\u00a0<\/p>\n Related: Handful of anti-Flock protesters turn out during CEO\u2019s Dallas police visit<\/a><\/p>\n After applying, they must schedule fingerprinting using the service code for handgun licensing provided via email, the agency says.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n DPS says applicants can complete the classroom portion online or in person.
