{"id":455903,"date":"2026-10-04T05:40:11","date_gmt":"2026-10-04T05:40:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/455903\/"},"modified":"2026-10-04T05:40:11","modified_gmt":"2026-10-04T05:40:11","slug":"texas-says-goodbye-to-another-familiar-tv-face","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/455903\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas says goodbye to another familiar TV face"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Texas is saying goodbye to a longtime TV personality as she moves back to her hometown.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/news\/austin\/article\/cbs-austin-layoffs-22377595.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">CBS Austin <\/a>sports anchor and reporter Darby Brown has spent her last day at the station after two years in the Capital City. She previously spent five years in Waco at KWTX, where she was the director of sports content, after two years as\u00a0NewsWest 9 sports director in Midland\/Odessa.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Chapman University graduate told\u00a0MySA she&#8217;s been &#8220;emotional leaving, maybe more than I thought, just because it really feels like Texas sort of built me over the last 10 years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I just feel really, really, really grateful for &#8230; the journey I&#8217;ve been on and people embracing me,&#8221; she said, adding how she&#8217;s appreciated the mentorship of CBS Austin sports director Bob Ballou.\u00a0&#8220;I&#8217;m excited to take what I&#8217;ve learned here and take it back home.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Her experience isn&#8217;t the only thing she&#8217;ll be taking home with her. In an announcement of her departure on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Dd1WyZKkZ43\/?img_index=1\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Instagram<\/a>, she said she&#8217;ll be leaving alongside &#8220;a love for Texas country music, a husband, a dog named Mojo from Waco, and a full heart, knowing so many of my dreams have come true.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The move will take her to Phoenix, Arizona, her hometown. Brown said that was always her &#8220;dream to get back home&#8221; and this new start is the right opportunity at the right time. She joins the sports team at 12News, an NBC affiliate.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I grew up in a really sports-loving family, and that&#8217;s probably an understatement,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Both my grandpas were coaches, and my parents played college sports. I actually was a dancer, but I was around sports, dancing at games and things &#8230; and then I had a big passion for &#8230; storytelling and writing. [Sports journalism] just kind of come combines all of that, and so it&#8217;s been a really rewarding career so far.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Despite her excitement to be closer to her parents, siblings and in-laws, she said she&#8217;ll miss the people she&#8217;s worked with in Texas.
