Public surveys have been taken to collect local residents’ input.

Highlighted elements included sidewalks, curb ramps, crosswalks and signals.

Sidewalks must provide a space that comfortably accommodates pedestrians between the roadway and adjacent land uses, the presentation read. Some general provisions for sidewalks are pathway width, slope, utilities and trees. Curb ramps are key to accommodating people using mobility devices, such as scooters, walkers and crutches. Curb ramps are typically found at intersections, on-street parking and bus stops. The city will be upgrading older pedestrian push-buttons to accessible pedestrian signals, providing audible and vibrating cues for visually and hearing-impaired residents.

Field crews use Kada software, a GIS/GPS-based data collection, processing and management application.
