Gorillaz has spent more than a quarter-century blurring the line between a band and a multimedia project. Created by Blur frontman Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett in the late 1990s, the British group consists of four fictional members \u2014 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle and Russel Hobbs. Albarn and a live band perform the music in concert while Hewlett\u2019s animated characters and other visuals appear on giant screens, making the cartoons part of the show rather than simply a piece of the group\u2019s branding.<\/p>\n
That combination has produced a string of hits, including \u201cClint Eastwood,\u201d \u201c19-2000,\u201d \u201cFeel Good Inc.\u201d and \u201cOn Melancholy Hill.\u201d The music draws from alternative rock, hip-hop, electronic music and pop, with an ever-changing cast of collaborators around Albarn.<\/p>\n
The latest Gorillaz album, The Mountain, was released in February, giving the current tour a mix of new material and older favorites to draw from. Recent shows have included new songs such as \u201cThe Mountain,\u201d \u201cThe Happy Dictator\u201d and \u201cOrange County\u201d alongside fan favorites.<\/p>\n
The band\u2019s concert in Fort Worth will feature opening sets from British rapper Little Simz and Deltron 3030, the hip-hop trio featuring rapper Del the Funky Homosapien, producer Dan \u201cthe Automator\u201d Nakamura and DJ Kid Koala.<\/p>\n
