Plano City Council approved five more sites to be assessed for erosion control at a meeting Sept. 28.<\/p>\n

The city awarded roughly $270,500 to Walter P. Moore and Associates, Inc.<\/a> for streambank stabilization, vegetation establishment, outfall reconstruction and sewer realignment services at five sites throughout Plano, per city documents<\/a>. The engineering company has also provided services to the city for other erosion projects.<\/p>\n Assistant Director of Engineering Angela Pflanz said the city determines erosion control sites based on the following:<\/p>\n “The main one we look at is the criticality to structures, especially our assets,” Pflanz said.<\/p>\n Pflanz said current approval from council will lead to new mitigation strategies for the five sites, and a construction contract will be approved at a later time. <\/p>\n The background<\/p>\n Pflanz said the city started a Streambank Stabilization<\/a> project in 2022 in which 127 miles were assessed to determine critical locations in Plano. Pflanz said erosion sites, structures and lake systems were assessed for three years during the project.<\/p>\n Other erosion projects in the city have taken place or are in progress at Pecan Hollow Golf Course<\/a>, Arbor Hills Nature Preserve<\/a> and Chisholm Trail<\/a>.
