{"id":458005,"date":"2026-10-06T13:42:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T13:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/458005\/"},"modified":"2026-10-06T13:42:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T13:42:09","slug":"man-flees-after-dodge-challenger-crashes-into-traffic-signal-pole-in-southwest-houston","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/458005\/","title":{"rendered":"Man flees after Dodge Challenger crashes into traffic signal pole in southwest Houston"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">A man fled the scene of a crash Tuesday morning after a Dodge Challenger crashed into a pedestrian traffic signal pole in southwest Houston.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The crash happened around 3:27 a.m. near the Southwest Freeway feeder road and Fountain View Drive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">A witness reported hearing a red Dodge Challenger traveling southbound on the feeder road at a high rate of speed before hearing a loud crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The vehicle had struck a pedestrian traffic signal pole. The airbags deployed, and the vehicle sustained significant damage, with its wheels reportedly separated from the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">A man was seen getting out of the driver\u2019s side, while a woman exited the passenger side. The two reportedly began walking southbound away from the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The woman was later seen returning to the vehicle after emergency crews arrived. She was sitting in the driver\u2019s seat when firefighters arrived and helped her out of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The woman was able to walk but appeared to be hyperventilating. EMS evaluated her and placed her in an ambulance. It was not immediately clear whether she was taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The male driver was not at the scene when emergency crews arrived.
