Credit: Lubbock Police Department.

Name: Jeremy Doney

Rank: Corporal

How many years with the department: 12 years

Role/Current Assignment: Patrol Midnights

Certifications: Master Peace Officer, TCOLE Instructor, Mental Health Peace Officer, Hostage Negotiator, NAPD Instructor, DWI Instructor, Field Training Officer and Critical Incident Stress Management.

Hometown: St. Louis, Missouri

Education/Background: Boerne High School; United States Marine Corps K9 Handler

Spouse/Children: A loving wife and two children

Why did you choose this profession?

I always wanted to be a police officer as a child and growing up. After 9/11, I believe it was my calling to serve my country and community. The idea of sitting in a cubicle terrified me more than any situation on the streets.

How do you deal with stressful situations?

By falling back on my faith. While it is my life, it belongs to a higher power who controls the outcome before I arrive. Also, by taking a breath. So many of life’s problems get smaller the moment you take a breath, pause and see the whole picture.

Honors/Highlights:

The best are the unnamed citizens who you help. Getting a pedestrian a ride when it’s raining, changing a tire for an elderly individual in snow, being someone who can step in to make a difference. The smiles, hugs and thank-yous you receive are worth more than any handshake or piece of paper. The smaller the action, the bigger the ripple.

Hobbies/Interests:

Faith, family, traveling and hockey.

Quote:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

— 2 Timothy 4:7

Related

Department: Lubbock Police Department Credit: Jeremy Doney.
