An Austin man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison after he threatened another driver with a gun during a road rage incident and fled from police, according to\u00a0Comal County officials.<\/p>\n
Patrick Ryan McShan, 45, was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon,\u00a0 evading arrest or detention with a vehicle and possession with intent to deliver between four and 200 grams of a controlled substance, according to the Comal County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n
On Aug. 14, 2025, McShan got into a dispute with another driver, which escalated into\u00a0McShan cutting off the other driver, swerving toward his car and pointing a\u00a0pistol at him while driving south on Interstate 35 near the San Marcos outlets,\u00a0according to the district attorney’s offce.<\/p>\n
McShan then led New\u00a0Braunfels police on a chase when they tried\u00a0to pull him\u00a0over near I-35 and FM 482 in southwest New\u00a0Braunfels.<\/p>\n
McShan drove through a convenience store\u00a0parking lot before “losing control, striking a fire hydrant and crashing into a ditch,\u201d according to the district attorney’s office. He got out of the car and ran but was caught by police officers, according to the district attorney’s office<\/p>\n
McShan had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in a bag he was carrying and officers found a pistol in his vehicle, according to the district attorney’s office.<\/p>\n
