The Dallas Express investigative reporter Carlos Turcios will speak Friday at Moms for Liberty\u2019s National Summit<\/a> in Dallas on the cultural influence of media and investigative reporting.<\/p>\n Turcios will join Tiffany Marie Brannon, Alex Stein, Lydia Shaffer and Angela Belcamino for the panel, \u201cBeyond the Ballot Box: The Power of Cultural Influence,\u201d from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on October 9, according to the summit schedule<\/a>.<\/p>\n Reporting and cultural influence<\/p>\n The panel will examine how investigative reporting, political commentary and independent media can bring overlooked issues into the public conversation and influence political and cultural debates, according to the session description.<\/p>\n \u201cPolitical outcomes are shaped long before Election Day\u2014by the stories uncovered, the questions asked, and the narratives that take hold.\u201d Moms for Liberty states in its description of the panel.<\/p>\n The organization says panelists will discuss research, reporting, commentary and firsthand storytelling, along with methods for reaching audiences outside traditional media.<\/p>\n \u201cPanelists will discuss breaking through traditional media gatekeepers, building credibility with an audience, and using digital platforms to inform and engage the public\u2014demonstrating how uncovering the right story can influence the conversations happening far beyond the ballot box.\u201d the panel description states.<\/p>\n Summit comes to downtown Dallas<\/p>\n Moms for Liberty\u2019s fifth annual National Summit will run<\/a> from October 8 through October 11 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel in downtown Dallas.<\/p>\n The organization describes the National Summit as a gathering of parents, teachers, grassroots leaders and advocates focused on parental rights and education. The summit includes keynote events, breakout sessions and training programs.<\/p>\n Moms for Liberty says attendees will hear from national leaders on education, parental rights and the country\u2019s founding principles.<\/p>\n
