{"id":459213,"date":"2026-10-07T16:01:24","date_gmt":"2026-10-07T16:01:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/459213\/"},"modified":"2026-10-07T16:01:24","modified_gmt":"2026-10-07T16:01:24","slug":"north-texas-navy-veteran-calls-on-simmons-to-apologize-for-marine-remarks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/459213\/","title":{"rendered":"North Texas Navy Veteran Calls On Simmons To Apologize For Marine Remarks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A North Texas Navy veteran and veterans\u2019 advocate is calling on Tarrant County Commissioner Alisa Simmons (D-Precinct 2) to publicly apologize for telling Elections Administrator Clint Ludwig not to mention being a Marine again.<\/p>\n<p>Kolton Krottinger, a Navy veteran and founder of Anxiety Solutions of America, a nonprofit that serves veterans and first responders, criticized Simmons in an interview with The Dallas Express after the newspaper <a href=\"https:\/\/dallasexpress.com\/tarrant\/ohare-targets-simmons-over-resurfaced-marine-remarks-bulletproof-vest-vote\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> on the August 19, 2025, exchange.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a Navy veteran, I call upon Commissioner Alisa Simmons to publicly apologize to Clint Ludwig and the veteran community. Clint served this country for 20 years in the Marine Corps. During a disagreement over polling locations, you told him, \u2018Don\u2019t you ever say anything about being a Marine again.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Remarks during a polling-location dispute<\/p>\n<p>As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Simmons made the remarks during a Commissioners Court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Awrb74sMXyM\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">meeting<\/a> about polling locations for the November 4, 2025, election.<\/p>\n<p>Simmons accused Ludwig of providing inconsistent answers about postponing the proposal and told him, \u201cyou\u2019re not worth two damn cents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ludwig said his staff could complete the programming but explained that he and the assistant elections administrator could not attend the September 3 meeting. He wanted commissioners to discuss the proposal and identify the sites his team should use.<\/p>\n<p>Simmons later told Ludwig: \u201cAnd don\u2019t you ever say anything about being a Marine again.\u201d She mentioned her son\u2019s service in the Marines and told Ludwig, \u201cyou\u2019re embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ludwig\u2019s 20-year Marine Corps career included multiple deployments, including to Afghanistan, according to the earlier reporting.<\/p>\n<p>A call for a public apology<\/p>\n<p>Krottinger called on Simmons to address Ludwig directly and explain her remarks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommissioner, your campaign promises to \u2018stand up to bullies.\u2019 I want you to address your words to Clint directly, explain what you meant, and acknowledge his service.
