Officials with Fort Worth PD confirmed the pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n

The NTSB also shared preliminary details about the plane crash in an emailed statement, saying in part there was “postimpact fire.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Preliminary information indicates the airplane had engine issues, and it turned back toward the airport,” the statement read. “There was a postimpact fire. An NTSB investigator is expected to arrive on scene [Thursday.]<\/p>\n

The Federal Aviation Administration said the crash happened around 9:50 a.m. 911 call logs cited by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram<\/a> indicate it occurred shortly before 10 a.m.<\/p>\n

Fort Worth fire and police crews responded near West Bonds Ranch Road and Blue Sky Drive. The intersection was shut down as officials investigated and cleared the wreckage.<\/p>\n

Chopper video showed the burned plane along West Bonds Ranch Road, with debris scattered near a neighborhood boundary wall.<\/p>\n

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported the plane as a Lancair IV-P, according to WFAA <\/a>and CBS News Texas, only the pilot was onboard. However, their current condition or identity has not been disclosed at this time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Chron has reached out to the Fort Worth Police Department and the National Transportation Safety Board, which is leading the investigation, for additional information.<\/p>\n
