A lifelong resident of Lubbock, Domingo was born on January 1, 1964, to Domingo Rangel, Sr. and Maria Lopez. He attended Estacado High School.

Domingo married the love of his life, Elizabeth Ibarra, on October 2, 1982. Together, they recently celebrated 44 years of marriage-a testament to a lifetime of love, commitment, and standing by each other through it all.

Domingo was a hard worker who believed in being on time, doing things right, and keeping things in order. He started working at an early age and spent 15 years in the shipping and receiving department at Llano Logistics Warehouse. He later worked for six years as the manager of the Bahama Bucks warehouse.

If you knew Domingo, you knew he was not afraid to be himself. He was a rebel, hardheaded, and sometimes rough around the edges. He had a strong personality and was never one to back down from what he believed. But underneath that tough exterior was a man with a heart as big as they come. He loved deeply, protected the people he cared about, and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

Domingo loved his church family at Kingdom Life Fellowship. He served as the head usher, a role that brought him tremendous joy and gave him a strong sense of purpose. His church family held a special place in his heart, and his presence, service, and dedication will be deeply missed.

Baseball and softball were a huge part of Domingo’s life. He loved watching, playing, coaching, and umpiring the games. He shared his passion for the sport with countless young people and inspired the kids he coached through his knowledge, dedication, and love for the game. He also enjoyed watching Texas Tech football and never missed a chance to cheer on the Red Raiders.

At home, Domingo had his own way of enjoying life. If you happened to catch him home alone, there was a good chance the house would be rocking and rolling with his favorite rock ‘n’ roll music cranked up as loud as he could get it.

Domingo also had a generous spirit, especially when it came to his family. He loved spending money on his children and grandchildren and took great pleasure in making them happy. His generosity even became part of a family saying that his children and grandchildren will always remember whenever they were out shopping with him: “Don’t tell Mom.”

That was Domingo-tough, stubborn, independent, and sometimes a little rebellious, but also loving, generous, loyal, protective, and full of life. He had his own way of doing things, and those who knew him best will remember not only the man who could be rough around the edges, but the man behind it all: a husband, father, grandfather, brother, coach, umpire, church servant, and friend who loved his family and those around him fiercely.

Those left to cherish Domingo’s memory include his wife, Elizabeth; daughter, Esther Rangel and fiancé, Oscar Patino; son, Aaron Rangel and wife, Norma; son, Issac Rangel; daughter, Alizay Rangel; brother, Eli Rangel; sister, Christina Rangel; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Domingo Rangel, Sr. and Maria Lopez, and his brother, Phillip Rangel.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Combest Family Funeral Home, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas 79401. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m., immediately following the viewing.

Domingo Rangel, Jr. passed away on October 4, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas.
