If you’re trying to find something fun and artsy to do in Dallas, it can be a chore to go through multiple websites and social media pages to track down an event. But help has arrived.

“We have been tracking for probably several years a need for a kind of centralized hub for various kinds of resources in the arts communities,” said Anne Kogan, director of programs at TACA. “Things like audition boards, opportunities or calls for proposals and a shared arts calendar that really focuses on local arts and culture events.”

Kogan says that in January, she and her team pulled together a group of artists, organizations, arts service providers and media partners to talk about what something like this would look like. That’s when they discovered Culturalyst, which is already being used in 19 cities across the United States, including Fort Worth, and in Albania.

“This is the solution we landed on for this arts community,” Kogan said. “Culturalyst Dallas is a free resource that brings Dallas artists, arts organizations, events, opportunities and audiences all together in one place.”

In addition to serving as an events calendar, Culturalyst helps artists and organizations promote their work, programs, share events and opportunities, find professional resources and connect with other artists in the community.

“Before, you would have an event on a calendar but you couldn’t actually see it in direct connection with that organization’s profile or their information,” said Maura Sheffler, executive director of TACA. “So that type of connectivity is going to be really useful for audience members as they start to actually learn some of the connections that are already existing behind the scenes from the Dallas Arts community.”

Many individual artists run an Instagram profile as their website, but that can be limiting, Kogan said. With Culturalyst Dallas, artists and organizations can create a free profile to have access to a suite of services that they did not have before and will help artists save money and time. Local artists will also be able to find listings for grants, jobs, professional development and other opportunities, plus tools to share work programs, events and opportunities, Kogan added.

So far, the digital hub includes over 200 individual artists and 77 organizations. In the future, the team hopes Culturalyst will expand to the arts communities in surrounding suburbs in North Texas.

“There are so many people who want to figure out what to do on a free night and they don’t know where to look. So our job now is to make sure that people know that this is their place to go look and they’ll find what’s happening,” Kogan said. “They’ll make other discoveries along the way that I think will deepen their relationship with the arts community, which is really what we’re all about.”

[9
102,104,103,93542,87998,89866
post-459973","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dallas","tag-dallas","tag-dallas-headlines","tag-dallas-news","tag-tp-performing-arts","tag-tp-dallas","tag-tp-theater
["GET
