On Aug. 26, Plano ISD officially unveiled the Bonser-Thomas Welcome & Enrollment Center, a new resource hub designed to serve families with comprehensive wraparound services.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 11,000-square-foot facility, located at 6210 Mapleshade Lane in Dallas, honors retired Superintendent Sara Bonser<\/a> and longtime Coordinator for Student Services James Thomas III \u2014 two leaders with more than 75 years of combined service to the district.<\/p>\n

Both namesakes are remembered not only for their leadership but for their unwavering commitment to students. Mrs. Bonser\u2019s vision helped inspire the center, while Mr. Thomas embodied what district leaders call \u201cthe heart of the work\u201d in Plano ISD.<\/p>\n

A First Stop For Families<\/p>\n

The center<\/a> is designed to be the first step in many students\u2019 Plano ISD journeys. Families can complete enrollment, request transfers and access critical services such as notarization of documents, connection to counseling and referrals to community resources. The facility also houses a food pantry, clothes closet and supports for families in transition.<\/p>\n

Health and wellness resources are also central to the center\u2019s mission. Families will be able to receive immunization screenings, access on-site vaccinations for qualifying students and participate in health fairs and educational programs. A mobile enrollment and education lab will extend these services into the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Plano ISD, dedication to caring is not just a phrase, it is how this district, this community, takes care of its children,\u201d said Mrs. Bonser in an official statement. \u201cAnd so here we are, in a place where families will be embraced by the school district and be supported with wraparound services that help their children become ready to learn.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Second Home For Families In Need<\/p>\n

The Bonser-Thomas Center is the second of its kind in the district, following the opening of the Bird Center on 19th Street in Plano in 2021. With two enrollment hubs now in operation, Plano ISD has expanded its ability to serve families across the district with greater accessibility and efficiency.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis center is a true reflection of Sara and James\u2019 belief that every student can succeed when they are given the right support,\u201d said Plano ISD Superintendent Dr. Theresa Williams. \u201cBy providing wraparound services, this center ensures that our students and families have the resources they need to thrive so that their educational journey is not only possible, but successful. For many of our students and families, it all begins here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Honoring Two Leaders, Inspiring Generations<\/p>\n

At the dedication ceremony, which drew about 200 attendees including city officials, trustees and family members, both honorees reflected on the meaning of the day.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis building is more than just walls and windows; it is a reflection of the values and vision of the leaders we honor today,\u201d said Plano ISD Executive Director for Student and Family Services Dr. Jennifer Miley. \u201cIt is a starting point, a bridge and a promise that every family who walks through these doors is part of the Plano ISD community.\u201d<\/p>\n
