A small plane crashed and caught fire in Fort Worth on Wednesday morning, prompting a massive response from local police and fire crews.<\/p>\n
The crash was reported shortly before 10 a.m., occurring at approximately 9:50 a.m. just east of Hicks Airfield. According to authorities, the aircraft went down near the intersection of West Bonds Ranch Road and Blue Sky Drive.<\/p>\n
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the downed aircraft is a Lancair IV-P and that only the pilot was on board at the time of the crash.<\/p>\n
First responders arriving at the scene reported that the aircraft was “fully involved” in flames and that utility wires were down in the area.<\/p>\n

Videos shared on social media and footage captured by news helicopters showed the burnt plane resting on the side of West Bonds Ranch Road. Broken pieces of the small aircraft were scattered near a neighborhood boundary wall.<\/p>\n
At this time, officials have not released the identity of the pilot, and the pilot’s condition remains unknown.<\/p>\n
It is currently unclear what caused the Lancair IV-P to crash. A Fort Worth police spokesperson stated that first responders are on the scene gathering more information and securing the area.<\/p>\n
