Dallas-based Southwest Airlines<\/a> operations were snarled Friday morning after a \u201cbrief interruption\u201d with the Dallas carrier\u2019s vendor Amadeus, the carrier told The Dallas Morning News in a statement. Southwest experienced delays at several airports on Friday after the carrier said it experienced an outage.<\/p>\n

Southwest<\/a> partners with Amadeus for functions such as the airline\u2019s reservation system<\/a>, among other products.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Lauren Rounds, a spokesperson for the City of Dallas\u2019 Department of Aviation, said that Love Field\u2019s operations team was told by Southwest<\/a> that the airline had been experiencing an intermittent internal network outage Friday morning, impacting boarding pass printing and mobile app scanning.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nationwide, Southwest had delayed nearly 900 flights by 9:15 a.m., while canceling 43, according to flight tracking site FlightAware. However, operations at Love Field appeared to be less affected. The airport only had 56 delays and seven cancellations as of 9:15 a.m.<\/p>\n

In a statement to NBC 5 on Friday morning around 9:00 am, a Southwest spokesperson said:<\/p>\n

Southwest experienced a brief interruption due to a system outage at our vendor, Amadeus. The airline continued to check baggage and board flights manually while full functionality was restored. We apologize to our Customers for any inconvenience and are working to get them to their destinations as quickly as possible.
