But an unexpected act of kindness from a Dallas man helped Kayla Price replace the medication her son, Devin, could need at any moment.<\/p>\n
Price had taken her boys to the State Fair of Texas for a day filled with rides, food and family memories.<\/p>\n
“He was having so much fun at the petting zoo. We rode the Ferris wheel. He loved that. He ate fried Oreos,” Price said.<\/p>\n
But during a break near the children’s rides, the family’s day took a frightening turn.<\/p>\n
“I needed to grab the purse because I believe Devin was going into a seizure, and I needed that medicine, and I noticed the purse was gone,” Price said. “Inside of my purse contained a very valuable medicine to Devin’s life.”<\/p>\n
Devin is battling midline glioma, an aggressive brain tumor with no cure. His mother said the prescription nasal spray helps stop his seizures.<\/p>\n
“Emergency medication, we’re supposed to keep with us, so I had two in my purse,” Price said.<\/p>\n
Price said insurance would not cover a replacement, leaving her worried about how she would afford the medication her son might need at any moment.<\/p>\n
Then, on Friday morning, Devin suffered another prolonged seizure.<\/p>\n
But help arrived just in time.<\/p>\n
Chris Bailey, the man who started the Everybody Loves Everybody movement following the July 7 Dallas police ambush, heard Devin’s story and decided to help.<\/p>\n
Bailey sent Price the money she needed to replace the medication, allowing her to immediately return to the pharmacy.<\/p>\n
“I sent her the money yesterday, and she immediately went to the pharmacy and filled it,” Bailey said.<\/p>\n
For Price, the generosity brought more than financial relief. It gave her peace of mind knowing she had the emergency medication her son desperately needed.<\/p>\n
“That medicine gave me a couple more days, a couple of more weeks, hopefully, and I am so glad,” Price said.<\/p>\n
Devin is now receiving care from his hospice team.<\/p>\n
And Bailey’s kindness may not end with the medication. He said he hoped to meet Devin over the weekend, with another special gift planned.<\/p>\n
“A little early Christmas surprise,” Bailey said.<\/p>\n
For a family facing an unimaginable battle, a stranger’s generosity has brought some much-needed relief.<\/p>\n
