EL PASO, Texas\u00a0\u2013\u00a0The NM State swimming and diving team opened its home slate with a 133-110 victory over North Texas on Friday evening at The Beast – Eastside Regional Recreation Center in El Paso, Texas. The Aggies claimed\u00a0seven\u00a0event wins and posted multiple\u00a0podium\u00a0sweeps throughout the meet to secure the meet triumph.\u00a0<\/p>\n
NM State got off to a strong start in the pool as Juliet Nicholson<\/a> captured the 1,000\u00a0freestyle\u00a0in 10:40.91, while Laurel Hoskovec<\/a> followed with a victory in the 200 freestyle after touching the wall in 1:56.06.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The Aggies continued to build momentum in the sprint events behind Dijana Mazumdar<\/a>, who won both the 50 free (24.39) and 100 free (53.20).\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n NM State also dominated the 400 IM, sweeping the top two spots as Riley Crespo<\/a> earned first place in 4:35.46 and Niamh Savory<\/a> finished second in 4:41.99. The Aggies added another\u00a0first place\u00a0finish in the 200\u00a0backstroke\u00a0with Lainey Gloden<\/a>\u00a0swimming a\u00a02:08.76.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n On the boards, Mira Tinani<\/a> led the way with a winning score of 268.95 in the 3-meter competition, while Peytton Moore<\/a> added a third-place finish\u00a0(235.50).\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The Aggies closed the meet with strong relay performances, placing second in both the\u00a0400 medley\u00a0relay and 400 freestyle relay. The quartet of Natalia Florian<\/a>, Ellie Krauss<\/a>, Laurel Hoskovec<\/a> and Callie Ceshker<\/a> turned in a runner-up finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:34.75.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n With the win, NM State improved its early-season dual-meet record while\u00a0showcasing\u00a0depth across both swimming and diving events.\u00a0<\/p>\n UP NEXT\u00a0<\/p>\n NM State continues its home stretch next weekend to host UTRGV on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the NM State Swimming and Diving Complex.
