HOUSTON, Mo. (KY3) -Houston\u2019s homecoming game Friday night turned into a homecoming for the team, too.<\/p>\n
Construction delays kept the Tigers off their field<\/a> for much of the season. The project includes a new natural grass playing surface and an eight-lane track. It\u2019s paid for by Proposition K.I.D.S., a $2.95 million no-levy-increase bond<\/a> issue for the Houston R-1 School District.<\/p>\n Rick Walker, who played football there in the 1970s, attended Friday\u2019s game. For him and the players\u2019 parents, this first game brought back something they\u2019d missed.<\/p>\n \u201cI actually played the very first game on this field 54 years ago,\u201d said Walker.<\/p>\n \u201cThe feeling is different, the atmosphere is different, and I think the boys have missed it a lot, and I know we\u2019re glad to be back,\u201d said Houston football parent Jennifer Shelton.<\/p>\n The district says work on the stadium is still underway. The new track will also give Houston a chance to host track meets again, after more than two decades without them.<\/p>\n
