HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A woman and her son are facing felony charges after court documents contend they “obtained and exercised control” over an older woman’s home and bank account through the use of fraudulent documents.<\/p>\n
Records obtained by ABC13 show that Tiffany Larke Thomas and Malik Slone were arrested and charged with felony exploitation of an elderly individual, forgery, and theft. According to court documents, they obtained 87-year-old Jennie Hitt’s home for only $10 in November 2025.<\/p>\n
Hitt lived in her home on Glen Echo Drive in northwest Houston since 1988. According to court documents, Thomas went to Hitt’s home in October 2025, claiming to be a Harris County inspector. In November 2025, court documents show Hitt fell and went to the hospital. Hitt’s neighbor contacted Thomas for help, believing she worked for the county.<\/p>\n
According to court documents, Thomas said that, in order to take Hitt to the hospital, the hospital said she first had to have power of attorney and medical power of attorney. Court documents show not only did Thomas obtain those two things from Hitt, but she also obtained Hitt’s home for only $10 by forging a notary signature on the home’s warranty deed. Thomas’s son Malik allegedly took ownership of the home.<\/p>\n
Hitt’s grandson reported the situation to the Houston Police Department after speaking with Thomas. When a detective in HPD’s financial crime division went to Thomas’ home to talk with her in December 2025, court documents say a car in her garage had a sticker that read ‘county inspector’ on it. Court documents say Thomas told the detective she worked for the Appraisal Review Board.<\/p>\n
ABC13 is working to confirm with Harris County what her role was, if any.<\/p>\n
Thomas has bonded out of jail as of Saturday night. She is also a notary, and court documents say investigators reviewed her notary application and found several false statements.<\/p>\n
