USA Today<\/a> unveiled late last month its roundup of the 10 best haunted destinations in the United States, evaluating countless sites and ranking them based on their “extraordinary reports of paranormal activity.” Among the top contenders is a Texas home that brings with it some bone-chilling encounters.<\/p>\n

USA Today named The Grove<\/a>, a historic home in Jefferson, Texas, its third-most haunted nationally. Nestled in the river port city, the home was first built in 1861 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The private residence opens itself up for guest tours, with those brave enough to visit likely to see ghostly figures.<\/p>\n

“Common sightings include a lady in a white dress, a man walking through the lily beds in the garden, and a mischievous, possibly flirty entity in the den,” USA Today’s review read in part.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The only two to best the Texas site is\u00a0 the Zak Bagans’ The Haunted Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada alongside the Indiana State Sanatorium in Rockville, Indiana, which took home the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, respectively.\u00a0The Zak Bagans’ The Haunted Museum <\/a>features more than 30 rooms brimming with artifacts from some of the most haunted sites in America, while the Indiana State Sanatorium once served as the state’s primary tuberculosis hospital.<\/p>\n

Those daring to pay a visit to The Grove in Texas can find the historic home at 405 E. Moseley St., Jefferson, TX 75657. Tours are typically held on Saturdays at 2 p.m. and Sundays at 11 a.m., with no weekday tours at this time.<\/p>\n
