Young professionals, food lovers and supporters gathered for an evening of oysters, seafood, cocktails and celebration at the \u201cMeet the Pearls\u201d event introducing the 2026 Pearl Honorees.<\/p>\n<p>The ACS <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/involved\/fundraise\/young-professionals.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GenNow Network<\/a> spearheads the event that honors a covey of emerging Houston leaders who have committed to raising awareness and funds in support of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/donate\/hope.html?gclsrc=aw.ds&amp;&amp;utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaignid=21603275924&amp;utm_adgroupid=169792393161&amp;utm_keyword=american%20cancer%20society&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=21603275924&amp;gbraid=0AAAAAD2heef6NJlLQdKsTuYaiKs5knUi-&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjw_pzWBhAkEiwAwDCi1WtZPvJfoe2lRkhJ1osGXCR-brWoPaWpy3gvrzBEU1Y9ugRDZfcbjRoCVfgQAvD_BwE\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">American Cancer Society<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2400\" height=\"1600\" class=\"size-full wp-image-756987 img-responsive \" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Pearl-Honorees.jpg.webp\" alt=\"Pearl Honorees (Photo by Jacob Power)\"  \/>The American Cancer Society GenNow Network Pearl honorees for 2026 (Photo by Jacob Power)<\/p>\n<p>Say hello to and prepare to support Aaron Herrera, Andrea James, Arianne Walker, Becky Helms, Carlisle Powell, Catherine Stiles, Colton Larsen, Dylan Milam, Emily Porter, Eryn Taylor, Jennifer Smith, Kelsey Falcone, Laura Mallon, Laurel Wheatley Hutton, Lauren Sanders, Lindsey Leigh Hohlt, Mary Ann Mason, Peter Bustamante, Richard Sarabia, Shanelle Shojaei, and Shernette Sherrill.<\/p>\n<p>Their fundraising efforts, which have already begun, will continue through the fall culminating in the popular Shuck Cancer fundraiser. On that evening, set for November 19 in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sawyeryards.com\/campus\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Silver Street Studios<\/a> at Sawyer Yards, the three top fundraisers will be given special recognition.<\/p>\n<p>Among this evening\u2019s speakers was Becky Helms, a Pearl Honoree, cancer survivor, nurse and Houston content creator. Helms shared her own cancer journey, including her diagnosis with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/cancer\/types\/hodgkin-lymphoma.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hodgkin lymphoma<\/a> after the discovery of a tumor in her chest.<\/p>\n<p>Courtney and Clayton Freels and Shelby and Jack Scharnberg chair the upcoming fundraiser, which this year will support the American Cancer Society <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.org\/support-programs-and-services\/patient-lodging\/hope-lodge\/houston.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hope Lodge Houston<\/a> community, which provides cancer patients and their caregivers with a free place to stay when receiving treatment far from home, saving sick patients nearly $7 million last year.<\/p>\n<p>      \t        Baobab Classique Scented Candles<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShuck Cancer is about bringing people together around something Houston does exceptionally well \u2014 food \u2014 and turning that shared experience into meaningful impact for people facing cancer,\u201d Shelby Scharnberg says.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"2400\" class=\"size-full wp-image-756972 img-responsive \" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Adam-and-Arianne-Walker.jpg.webp\" alt=\"Adam and Arianne Walker (Photo by Jacob Power)\"  \/>Adam &amp; Arianne Walker at the American Cancer Society GenNow Network event (Photo by Jacob Power)<\/p>\n<p>The November 19 event event will feature servings of\u00a0 fresh oysters from regional and national seafood vendors paired with selected wines, craft beers and cocktails.
