Check out five recent updates from Allen City Council and Allen ISD, including an asphalt overlay project, a new coffee shop and school renovations. <\/p>\n

$1.6M asphalt overlay project slated for East Bethany Drive in Allen<\/a><\/p>\n

Improvements are coming soon to the portion of East Bethany Drive between Greenville Avenue and Malone Road in Allen.<\/p>\n

Allen City Council approved a $1.6 million construction project with Overland Corporation for the Bethany Drive Asphalt Overlay Project at a Sept. 22 meeting. The scope of the project includes constructing a protective layer of asphalt over the existing pavement to extend the life of the roadway, city documents state. <\/p>\n

This comes after several other investments along the East Bethany corridor, Director of Engineering Chris Flanigan said. <\/p>\n

Coach Coffee Shop now offering lattes, matcha, more in Allen<\/a><\/p>\n

Coach Coffee Shop is now open in Allen, a company representative confirmed. <\/p>\n

The coffee shop is located within the Coach store at the Allen Premium Outlets and offers a variety of coffee, matcha and pastries. Coach Coffee Shop also offers strawberry or lavender-flavored lemonade. <\/p>\n

“As only the second Coach Coffee Shop location in Texas, this exciting new concept brings together premium coffee and the iconic Coach brand in a unique and welcoming atmosphere,” the Allen Premium Outlets’ website states.<\/p>\n

Officials update Allen ISD board on current, future campus projects<\/a><\/p>\n

Allen ISD is on track to deliver multiple bond-funded projects this year including school renovations and a new multipurpose complex at Allen High School. <\/p>\n

The district\u2019s operations department managed five construction projects during the 68-day summer window, according to a staff presentation. That\u2019s an increase from one or two projects that are typically completed over the summer, said Brent Benningfield, assistant superintendent of operations.<\/p>\n

Campuses and buildings that were renovated over the summer include: <\/p>\n

Cheatham Elementary School<\/p>\n

Anderson Early Childhood School<\/p>\n

Allen High School Activity Center<\/p>\n

Curtis Middle School<\/p>\n

NTMWD approves $978M fiscal year budget for 2027<\/a><\/p>\n

The North Texas Municipal Water District\u2019s fiscal year 2026-27 budget is increasing about 8% from the previous year, according to a news release. <\/p>\n

NTMWD\u2019s board of directors approved the $978 million budget during a Sept. 24 meeting. The budget allocates funding for the organization\u2019s regional water and wastewater systems that stretch throughout North Texas. <\/p>\n

\u201cInvesting in infrastructure is investing in the future of our communities,\u201d said Jenna Covington, NTMWD executive director and general manager, in a statement. <\/p>\n

Allen Fire Department to receive over $1.2M in new equipment<\/a><\/p>\n

Allen firefighters will soon be using upgraded equipment. <\/p>\n

Allen City Council approved three purchases for a total of $1.22 million in new equipment for the Allen Fire Department at a Sept. 22 meeting. <\/p>\n

The purchases were needed to replace aging equipment and support training for the department, Allen Fire Chief Jonathan Boyd said. <\/p>\n

Eight Lund University Cardiopulmonary Assist Systems, or LUCAS, devices will be purchased for $164,326, per city documents.
