Upcoming projects<\/p>\n
Centerpoint Road Crossing Overpass<\/a><\/p>\n Project: Crews will construct an overpass over the Union Pacific Railroad crossing on Centerpoint Road in San Marcos, eliminating the conflict between trains and roadway traffic. The project will feature a widened roadway with a median and shoulders and shared-use paths on both sides.<\/p>\n Update: The project secured a $39.23 million federal award through the Federal Railroad Administration\u2019s Federal-State Partnership for Intercity Passenger Rail Program.<\/p>\n I-35 North widening<\/a><\/p>\n Project: This project widens I-35 from SH 45 to Hwy. 29, adding two nontolled high-occupancy vehicle lanes in each direction as well as an additional main lane between FM 1431 and Hwy. 29. The project will also include new bypass lanes and the relocation and modification of some entrance and exit ramps.\u00a0<\/p>\n Update: The Texas Department of Transportation began holding community meetings and information sessions about the project in August.\u00a0The project is in the design phase and environmental studies are ongoing.<\/p>\n Timeline: TBD<\/p>\n Cost: TBD<\/p>\n Funding source: TxDOT<\/p>\n Ongoing projects<\/p>\n New Hope Drive expansion<\/a><\/p>\n Project: Traffic changes are underway as the city expands New Hope Drive in Cedar Park from four to six lanes and introduces an innovative intersection at 183A Toll.<\/p>\n Update: Construction is active between Block House Drive and CR 180, with a traffic shift involving the left-turn lanes from 183A onto New Hope Drive. Design work continues on the western segment toward Lakeline Boulevard.<\/p>\n Timeline: September 2024\u2013spring 2027<\/p>\n Cost: $1.8 million for the design phase<\/p>\n Funding source: 2022 transportation bond<\/p>\n Spicewood Springs Road Regional Mobility Project<\/a><\/p>\n Project:\u00a0The project includes widening the two-lane road in Northwest Austin into a four-lane road with left-turn bays, creating two water detention ponds and pedestrian and bicycle shared-use paths, and improving the storm drain system, water transmission and wastewater lines.<\/p>\n Update:\u00a0An Aug. 11 update from the city stated that weather-related delays throughout the spring and summer had pushed the project’s substantial completion from late 2026 to summer 2027. Starting in September, work will be underway on shared-use pathways on both sides of Spicewood Springs Road, and crews will continue to work on rain gardens and paving travel lanes this fall.<\/p>\n Completed projects <\/p>\n
