\nThe 2006 edition of the Chaparrals were the first team under head coach Nathan Blackwood<\/a> to reach the NAIA World Series and the first LCU team to make it that far since 1991. On the way to the program’s seventh world series appearance, they captured the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Title, the NAIA Region VI and the NAIA Mid-South Super-Regional titles, all in just the third year with Blackwood at the helm.

First baseman Michael Harkins was named a First Team All-American and pitcher Dave Wasylak was named to the All-American Second Team. The team finished the season 50-17 overall.
