{"id":464746,"date":"2026-10-13T13:14:09","date_gmt":"2026-10-13T13:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/464746\/"},"modified":"2026-10-13T13:14:09","modified_gmt":"2026-10-13T13:14:09","slug":"demolition-begins-at-historic-greenspoint-mall-to-make-way-for-150-million-industrial-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/464746\/","title":{"rendered":"Demolition begins at historic Greenspoint Mall to make way for $150 million industrial park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Demolition will begin Tuesday at the former Greenspoint Mall as developers prepare to transform part of the longtime North Houston property into a $150 million industrial park.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The demolition ceremony is scheduled for 9 a.m. and is expected to include Houston Mayor John Whitmire and other city leaders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The redevelopment, known as CityNorth Industrial Park, will cover approximately 80 acres at 12300 North Freeway, near Interstate 45 and Beltway 8.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Developers Lincoln and New York Life Investment Management announced plans for the project in September. The development is expected to include 1.2 million square feet of industrial space designed for logistics, distribution and manufacturing businesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The project is expected to create about 300 construction jobs and, once fully developed, support 1,200 full-time jobs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Greenspoint Mall opened in 1976 and served the North Houston community for nearly five decades before closing in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">The City of Houston and the North Houston Development Corp. are contributing $15 million toward demolition and public right-of-way improvements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-dLMFU sc-fHjqPf jbiTJv kYFPaL article-text\">Fitness Connection, which has operated at the mall since 2005, is expected to relocate to a new 45,000-square-foot facility elsewhere on the property.
