Morning temperatures will drop to the 50s this weekend with afternoons in the 70s.<\/p>\n

AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 A cold front is on the way to Central Texas, and it will bring a significant cooldown with our coolest morning temperatures so far of the fall. However, don’t break out the hoodies and long sleeves just yet. We still have several more days of very warm and muggy afternoons with highs in the low to mid-90s prior to the front moving through.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The big changes begin Thursday night into Friday morning as the front initially moves in. Significant rainfall is not expected with the front. For now, the forecast includes just a 20% chance for showers on Friday morning, so the much more noticeable changes will be cooler temperatures and gusty north to northeast winds.<\/p>\n

Temperatures will likely be in the 60s Friday morning, with afternoon highs only reaching the 70s to low 80s.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Behind the front, sustained winds of 10 to 20 mph and occasional gusts up to 35 mph will make for a breezy day.<\/p>\n

By Saturday morning, Central Texas will really feel the difference. Widespread temperatures in the 50s are expected, with some of the coolest locations, especially in the Hill Country, potentially dropping into the 40s.<\/p>\n

The forecast looks fantastic for Saturday’s Texas-Florida football game in Austin. With an 11 a.m. kickoff, temperatures at the start of the game should be somewhere between 63 and 66 degrees. Fans arriving early for tailgating will experience even cooler conditions. By the afternoon, sunshine and temperatures in the 70s should make for beautiful fall weather.<\/p>\n

Sunday morning may be the coolest of the weekend, with widespread lows in the low to mid-50s and another opportunity for some locations to dip into the 40s. Mostly sunny skies will continue on Sunday afternoon, with highs in the 70s to low 80s.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead to early next week, temperatures will gradually moderate as the cool air mass begins to modify. Afternoon highs should return to the 80s for Monday and Tuesday. There is also a small chance for showers on Monday as another weather system approaches Central Texas, although widespread rainfall is not currently anticipated.<\/p>\n

The KVUE Weather Team will continue to monitor the timing of the cold front and fine-tune the temperature forecast as we get closer to the weekend. In the meantime, the extended forecast can be found below.<\/p>\n
