{"id":465222,"date":"2026-10-13T23:58:08","date_gmt":"2026-10-13T23:58:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/465222\/"},"modified":"2026-10-13T23:58:08","modified_gmt":"2026-10-13T23:58:08","slug":"7th-court-of-appeals-hears-lubbock-cases-at-texas-tech-law-school-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/465222\/","title":{"rendered":"7th Court of Appeals hears Lubbock cases at Texas Tech Law School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; The Seventh Court of Appeals, typically based in Amarillo, heard arguments Tuesday morning at the Texas Tech University School of Law.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Chief Justice Judy Parker, Justice Lawrence Doss and Justice Laura Pratt \u2014 all Texas Tech law graduates \u2014 heard three cases, two from Lubbock.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">One is the state\u2019s appeal in the case against Allan Montemayor, accused of beating 21-year-old Cypress Ramos to death in February 2022 and setting her body on fire inside a storage unit on North Frankford Avenue. The state is challenging a pretrial ruling that threw out evidence. At issue is whether police improperly gathered DNA evidence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The panel also heard the appeal of Nathan Grassie, sentenced to life for abusing three children over nearly a decade.
