Hyatt manages the hotel.

How The System Works

WATTER says its model places AI computing systems in existing buildings that have available electrical capacity and steady demand for hot water. At the Hyatt, the company says the system captures heat produced by computing equipment and uses it to preheat water before it reaches the building’s boiler.

“When most people look at a hotel, they see a hospitality asset. We see infrastructure hiding in plain sight,” WATTER Co-Founder and CEO James Hancock said in the company’s October 13 Business Wire release.

Hunter Hunt, president, CEO and chairman of Hunt Energy Company and Hunt Oil Company, said in the release that the Reunion installation lowers natural gas consumption and cost while reducing some of the infrastructure demands associated with a traditional data center.

Key Details Remain Undisclosed

The announcement does not disclose the Hyatt deployment’s computing capacity, electricity draw, installation cost, measured natural gas savings, property-owner revenue or the customers purchasing its AI compute. Those omissions prevent an independent comparison of the project’s economics and energy use with a conventional data center.

WATTER raised a $5 million seed round in March 2025 led by Hunt Innovative Technologies and 17Shoals Inc. as the company spun out of Hunt Innovative Technologies, a Hunt Energy subsidiary.

A federal small-business research database lists a $1,249,802 Phase II U.S. Air Force award to WATTER for work on distributed computing that repurposes server heat. The award period runs from August 27, 2025, through March 29, 2027.

Texas Data Center Debate Provides Context

The rollout arrives as Texas scrutinizes the power, water and community effects of much larger data-center projects. The Dallas Express reported in September that ERCOT was reviewing 461 proposed data centers seeking at least 25 megawatts of electricity from the grid.

Nothing in WATTER’s announcement establishes that the Hyatt deployment reaches that 25-megawatt threshold or falls within ERCOT’s review. WATTER’s model instead distributes computing equipment through existing buildings rather than concentrating it in a purpose-built hyperscale campus.

The Dallas deployment gives the company a visible commercial test of that model, but the undisclosed power, cost and savings figures will determine how meaningfully it differs from traditional data-center economics and energy demand.

Dallas Startup Runs AI Servers Inside Hyatt Regency | Image by Hyatt Regency Dallas/web gallery Dallas-based WATTER announced…

[9
41644,3436,102,104,103,5304,30893,145141,55541,71789
post-465234","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-dallas","tag-ai-infrastructure","tag-artificial-intelligence","tag-dallas","tag-dallas-headlines","tag-dallas-news","tag-data-centers","tag-hunt-energy","tag-hyatt-regency-dallas","tag-reunion-tower","tag-watter
["GET
