Jay Dean, Fantasha Allen share thoughts on data centers in Texas House District 7 race\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) &#8211; The contest for who will represent Texas House District 7 pits incumbent state Rep. Jay Dean (R-Longview) against Democratic nominee Fantasha Allen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Dean is running for a sixth term. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis train has sort of left the station,\u201d Dean said, referring to data center construction. \u201cThose companies did a terrible job of getting out front in their public relations to explain and make sure people understood exactly what they are and what they are not.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI like the idea of the power that they need, that they build their own power plants,\u201d Dean added. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Allen said data center constructions should be up to local citizens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIf the people in that county do not want the data centers there, they shouldn\u2019t be there,\u201d Allen said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI do see a lot of people say that when a data center is built by them, they\u2019re losing water and their electricity bill is going up,\u201d added Allen. \u201cI won\u2019t want that for East Texas because most of us here are already living paycheck-to-paycheck.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The district includes Gregg, Harrison, and Marion counties.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KLTV.
