A 45-year-old man died on Monday after falling or jumping from the 12th floor of the Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells, police said.<\/p>\n

Mineral Wells police officers and firefighters responded<\/a> about 9 p.m. to reports of a man on the roof of the Baker Hotel, police said in a social media post.<\/p>\n

Officers tried to contact the man, but the attempts were unsuccessful and he either fell or jumped from the 12th floor, police said. He died from his injuries.<\/p>\n

The investigation is ongoing, police said.<\/p>\n

The Dallas County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office will identify the man and determine an official cause and manner of his death.<\/p>\n

The historic Baker Hotel closed in 1972<\/a> and has remained vacant. A $65 million renovation project has been underway since 2019 and the hotel is expected to reopen in 2028.<\/p>\n
