EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 El Paso has named Joaquin Rodriguez as its new public works director, putting him in charge of a department that oversees everything from street maintenance to major infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n
Rodriguez takes over the role after previously holding leadership positions with the city, including serving as director of grant-funded programs and working with the Capital Improvements Department.<\/p>\n
Rodriguez spoke on KFOX14 Community Conversations about his new role. <\/p>\n
The appointment comes as the city faces ongoing infrastructure needs, including road conditions and potholes, which are a frequent concern for residents. <\/p>\n
As public works director, Rodriguez will be responsible for helping set priorities for projects across the city and for ensuring taxpayer resources are used effectively, including keeping projects on schedule and within budget.<\/p>\n
