He was chosen from nearly 140 candidates in a nationwide search, the city said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/parent-petition-due-october-15-may-decide-austin-isds-future\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">ALSO | Parent petition due October 15 may decide Austin ISD&#8217;s future<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mangum has more than 25 years of experience in local government. He began his career in parks and recreation jobs in Arizona, Michigan and Illinois.
