KTCU welcomes students, no matter their class or major, to become DJs or host their own specialty shows.

The radio station, which is located in Moudy South, hasn’t always been what it is today. Geoffrey Craig was hired as co-station manager in 2018 and joined fellow station manager Janice McCall, who’s been at the station since 2009. The two station managers knew that if they wanted to make the radio station a place where more students frequented, they had to give more power back to the students themselves.

“When I was here as an undergrad, there were eight total students working at the radio station,” Craig said.

The decision to put a bigger emphasis on hearing students’ voices has paid dividends, as what was once just eight student DJs working at the station in 2012-2014 has now turned into 30 DJs, while also airing 10 specialty shows throughout the week.

“Changing the music to be student-driven and getting y’all back involved and letting y’all have a voice in the programming has helped a lot,” Craig said. The result of the increased student involvement is the community KTCU now fosters.

KTCU recently underwent its biggest renovation since 1980, the year Moudy South was constructed. The renovation was completed in the summer of 2025, and with a new space came new DJs.

“It’s in my blood. I know that’s corny to say, but my dad was an audio engineer in LA, and before that he was a disc jockey, so I grew up around it,” said Natalie Boyd, a senior sports broadcasting major who is a DJ at KTCU.

Boyd, who’s been around radio since she was little, knew KTCU was the place she wanted to be after attending an open house at the station last year. In the past nine months that she has been a DJ, Boyd said she has embraced the station and has felt comfortable from the beginning.

KTCU has seen significant growth since Craig joined McCall in 2018, and the two station managers want to continue to prioritize student involvement and creating a comfortable space for students to participate.

KTCU welcomes students, no matter their class or major, to become DJs or host their own specialty shows.…

[10
116,118,117
post-466076","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-fort-worth","tag-fort-worth","tag-fort-worth-headlines","tag-fort-worth-news
["GET
