{"id":466130,"date":"2026-10-14T21:30:08","date_gmt":"2026-10-14T21:30:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/466130\/"},"modified":"2026-10-14T21:30:08","modified_gmt":"2026-10-14T21:30:08","slug":"slaughter-lane-and-i-35-road-projects-underway-in-austin-southwest-austin-dripping-springs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/466130\/","title":{"rendered":"Slaughter Lane and I-35 road projects underway in Austin | Southwest Austin &#8211; Dripping Springs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Multiple transportation projects are ongoing in Southwest Austin that may affect commutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ongoing projects<\/p>\n<p>I-35 Capital Express South Project<\/p>\n<p>Project: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.txdot.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">The Texas Department of Transportation<\/a> will add two high-occupancy-vehicle lanes, a southbound bypass lane and pedestrian and bicycle paths.<\/p>\n<p>Update: The eastbound and westbound SH 71\/Ben White Boulevard to southbound I-35 flyovers were closed nightly Sept. 20-24 for bridge column work.<\/p>\n<p>Slaughter Lane Corridor Improvements<\/p>\n<p>Project: Improvements will be made between MoPac Expressway and Brodie Lane, transforming the street into a six-lane divided roadway. The city will add modernized traffic signals, shared-use paths and drainage upgrades.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Update: In August, the City of Austin began installing mast arms for future traffic signals at several locations.
